Get Youthful Skin With Sciton Laser Treatments: How Does It Work?

Nobody wants to look their chronological age. Unfortunately, your face is one of the first places to show the signs of aging, and those signs can’t effectively be covered up by makeup and anti-aging creams. At Orange Blossom Women’s Group in Trinity, FL, we believe every woman deserves to be comfortable, happy and confident in her own skin. Today, we highlight Sciton anti-aging laser treatments and how they work.

What Is Sciton?

Sciton is the manufacturer of a laser known as the ProFractional laser. This laser is used to resurface the skin, minimize wrinkles, even out pigmentation and improve the tone and texture of your skin. It is most often used to treat acne scars, eliminate fine lines, reduce wrinkles and reverse signs of sun damage, such as severe discoloration.

How Does It Work?

The Sciton ProFractional laser works by using a miniscule laser beam to target thousands of tiny parts of your skin. Each burst of laser light energy treats only a fraction of your skin. The surrounding tissue unaffected by the precise laser promotes rapid healing. The energy prompts your body to promote collagen, which adds resilience and firmness to your skin.

What Is Collagen?

Collagen is a type of protein that is vital to keeping your skin looking young, taut and healthy. Anti-aging treatment that stimulate collagen production are essential as you age. For most women, the collagen production rate drops by 1% every year starting around 25 years of age.

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

Before treatment, we will sanitize the treatment area and use safety shields to protect your eyes from the laser light. Then, we will gently position the handpiece on your skin. When the laser emits energy, you will hear snapping sounds in rapid succession.

We will move the handpiece around to areas adjacent to the original site until we have covered the entire treatment area. Each treatment session takes only around 15 to 30 minutes.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Virtually any part of your body that needs skin tightening or improved tone and texture can be treated with the Sciton ProFractional laser. It is most commonly used, however, to treat the lower face, neck, chest and hands.

During your initial consultation, let us know which areas of your body concern you the most. We can work out a personalized anti-aging treatment plan that best achieves your unique aesthetic goals.

Does Treatment Hurt?

Treatment with the ProFractional laser is neither painful nor uncomfortable. However, depending on the depth and location of treatment, we may recommend a local anesthetic or topical numbing cream.

In the case of localized anesthesia, be prepared for your treatment session to take an extra half hour as we wait for the anesthetic to take effect. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities.
